Doubt

You make me feel like I'm on top of the world;

Like it's all lying at my feet.

Yet you humble me in ways I did not know,

Give me joy every time we meet.

But I don't believe you.

When you say you love me,

I wait for it to end;

I wait for the day you will stop.

But I don't believe you.

When you say it's forever,

I wait for it to end;

For the forever to become never.

But I don't believe you.

When you tell me you see a future with me,

I wait for it to end;

For you to realize it's with someone else.

And I don't believe you when you say you love me,

Because how could you?

Because it isn't supposed to happen this fast,

And it isn't supposed to happen this soon,

So I don't believe myself.
